Bent Ericksen 1930 – 2019

Our beloved founder and industry icon, Mr. Bent Ericksen, passed away January 22, 2019, at the age of 89

In Memoria: The passing of an industry icon.

Our beloved founder and industry icon, Mr. Bent Ericksen, passed away January 22, 2019, at the age of 89, following complications from a minor stroke several years ago and progressive dementia.

Throughout Bent’s long and distinguished career, colleagues, consultants and thousands of clients in the healthcare field experienced and benefitted from this man’s generosity, intelligence, expertise, quick-wit, love and support.

Ending a successful career with Sears Roebuck as Training Director for 10 western states, Bent founded Practice Personnel Systems over 40 years ago. After marrying June Harper in 1993 in Southern California, the name of the company was subsequently changed to Bent Ericksen & Associates.

Bent Ericksen and Associates has evolved and grown to become the “go-to” resource and industry leader in human resources and employment compliance for healthcare practitioners.

As an author, Bent wrote for most all of the major trade magazines, journals and newsletters, as well as his contribution to numerous books and the company’s own employment resource guides on staff management, recruiting/hiring and HR administration.

As a speaker, Bent presented workshops, seminars and trainings throughout the United States at meetings, study clubs, and conventions both large and small.

As an innovator, Bent pioneered systems and procedures for today’s modern human resources and employment compliance, with the underlying philosophy of “creating an environment where both the doctor and the team can work and thrive”.

Bent was one of the founding members of the Academy of Dental Management Consultants (ADMC). In recognition of his dedication and contributions, Bent was honored with lifetime membership status to ADMC, prior to his retirement in 2010. Bent was also there at the beginning of Linda Miles’ Speaking and Consulting Network (SCN), now owned by Lois Banta.

Bent is survived by his wife June, of 25 years, two sons, a step son and step granddaughter Brittany.

Without a doubt, Bent established a legacy that lives on through all of us who are proud to be worthy of carrying it on.
